这一余切丛的构造很容易推广到更一般的情形。给定以 $F$ 为纤维的向量丛 $E\stackrel{\pi }{\to }M$，我们可以定义它的对偶丛(dual bundle) $E^{\ast }\stackrel{\pi }{\to }M$。$E^{\ast }$ 的纤维 $F^{\ast }$ 是由 $F$ 到 $\mathbb{R}$（或 $\mathbb{C}$）的线性映射构成的集合。给定 $F_p$ 的一般基 $\{e_{\alpha }(p)\}$，我们通过 $⟨{\theta }^{\alpha }(p),e_{\beta }(p)⟩={\delta }_{\beta }^{\alpha }$ 定义 $F_p^{\ast }$ 的对偶基 $\{{\theta }^{\alpha }(p)\}$。

This cotangent bundle is easily extended to more general cases. Given a vector bundle $E\stackrel{\pi }{\to }M$ with the fibre $F$ , we may define its dual bundle $E^{\ast }\stackrel{\pi }{\to }M$ . The fibre $F^{\ast }$ of $E^{\ast }$ is the set of linear maps of $F$ to $\mathbb{R}$ (or $\mathbb{C}$ ). Given a general basis $\{e_{\alpha }(p)\}$ of $F_p$ , we define the dual basis $\{{\theta }^{\alpha }(p)\}$ of $F_p^{\ast }$ by $⟨{\theta }^{\alpha }(p),e_{\beta }(p)⟩={\delta }_{\beta }^{\alpha }$ .
