定义 · 14.2 玻色弦的量子理论

群 $\mathrm{Diff}({\Sigma }_g)/{\mathrm{Diff}}_0({\Sigma }_g)$ 称为模群(modular group)（MG），或映射类群(mapping class group)（MCG）。MCG 由如例 8.2中所定义的德恩扭转生成。对于亏格为 $g$ 的环面，MCG 由绕 $a_i,b_i$ 与 $c_i$ 的 $3g-1$ 个德恩扭转生成，如图 14.3所示。遗憾的是，这 $3g-1$ 个德恩扭转并不是生成元的最小集合。对于 $g\ge 2$ 的情形，MCG 的一般形式尚不清楚。

The group $\mathrm{Diff}({\Sigma }_g)/{\mathrm{Diff}}_0({\Sigma }_g)$ is known as the modular group (MG) or the mapping class group (MCG). The MCG is generated by the Dehn twists defined in example 8.2. For the torus with genus $g$ , the MCG is generated by $3g-1$ Dehn twists around $a_i,b_i$ and $c_i$ in figure 14.3. Unfortunately, these $3g-1$ Dehn twists are not the minimal set of the generators. The general form of MCG for $g\ge 2$ is not well understood.
