若存在非退化 2-形式，则流形 $M$ 的维数必为偶数 $m=2n$，因为 $\det A\det {\mathbf{A}}^T=\det (-\mathbf{A})=(-1{)}^m\det A$。$2n$ 维流形 $M$ 上的 辛结构(symplectic structure) 是一个闭的可微 2-形式 $\Omega$，且处处非退化。回忆闭的意味着处处有 $\mathrm{d}\Omega =0$。带有辛结构的偶数维流形 $M$ 称为 辛流形(symplectic manifold)。

The manifold $M$ must necessarily be of even dimension $m=2n$ if there exists a non degenerate 2-form, since $\det A\det {\mathbf{A}}^T=\det (-\mathbf{A})=(-1{)}^m\det A$. A symplectic structure on a $2n$-dimensional manifold $M$ is a closed differentiable 2-form $\Omega$ that is everywhere non-degenerate. Recall that closed means that $\mathrm{d}\Omega =0$ everywhere. An even-dimensiona manifold $M$ with a symplectic structure is called a symplectic manifold.
